In the past there has been a sense of power revolved around sexuality, race, and civilization. In the book, â€Å"Conclusion: Tarzan and After† by Gail Bederman, he talks about Tarzan of the Apes story and makes a strong connection about Tarzan’s tough masculinity and comes from a bloodline of Anglo-Saxon’s. The bloodline of Anglo-Saxon is a significant representation because it indicates the pure, rich, and civilized breed that is heavily valued as a white superior race. Also in the book, â€Å"The Transnational Origins of Hegemonic Dominican Masculinity,† by Maja Horn, she elaborated in the idea of Trujillo’s proud nationality and his favorability on having fine fair skin over dark skin which creates division toward the citizens of the Dominican Republic. Even though both readings are different in nationality, there are resemblances within race and civilization.
